About ElegantÉ Cellars
Our specialties are our red wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec,
Merlot, Sangiovese, Syrah and Tempranillo. These wines are
on the richer, smoother and more elegant side. All of our
wines are 100% pure varietal and reflect the purity of the
wonderful, aromas and flavors of the grape.
Elegante´ Cellars, owned, managed and operated, by Doug Simmons
is one of the premier wineries in the Walla Walla Valley and located
at the Walla Walla Regional Airport complex.
Doug Simmons, a retired, high school chemistry teacher, is our
Winemaker. His initial training was as a Physical Scientist. After
his retirement he received a Certificate of Viticulture and an AA
Degree in Enology and Viticulture from Walla Walla Community
College in the 2006. Rumor has it, that it was the best two program
West of the Mississippi River.
After Doug finished his degree, he helped one of finer wineries in the
Walla Walla Valley make their wine and his first wine in the Fall of 2006.
With this knowledge and the experience of working in the WWCC winery,
Doug designed his own winery, supervised its construction and opened its
doors in September of 2007. The focus at Elegante´ Cellars is in low
production, high quality and carefully, handcrafted wines. Great care and time
is taken in selecting our grapes and making our wine. Doug personally selects
the finest vineyards and grapes that are used in Elegante´ wines. During the
past 15 years he has won dozens and dozens of medals for his wines.
Elegante´ Cellars is open daily from about 10:00 to 4:30. Doug loves
visitors and personally pours our wines for our guests. Our goal is for our
patrons to taste, sample and buy the wine they like. We only sell
our wines at the winery.
